The Full Story

The harp first intrigued Heidi at age seven, while seeing it played at a wedding reception. This fascination began several months of begging and waiting before her parent's knew she was truly interested in playing the harp, and they were willing to make the commitment to begin this endeavor.

After beginning lessons six months later, the harp has offered Heidi many opportunities. Her primary teachers have included Mary Brichers formerly with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra and Kathleen Wychulis with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra. For portions of three different summers during high school, she was given the privilege to study with world-renown teacher Alice Chalifoux at the Salzedo Harp Colony in Camden, Maine. In 1999, she released the "Reflections of Christmas" solo recording.

In Spring of 2005, Heidi completed her Bachelor of Arts in Harp Performance at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Over the years, Heidi has had many performance opportunities including: UNL Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra, Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Hastings Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln's New Music Agency, The Brown Palace Hotel (Denver), Abendmusik, and numerous other special events, wedding and receptions. She was a member of Duo
Adante, a flute/harp duo, is Treasurer for the Great Plains Chapter of the American Harp Society and has been teaching harp students for over 20 years.

Heidi resides in Lincoln, Nebraska with her husband Jan Michael Beran and their three children. She continues to freelance and teach harp, and she also has a passion to share powdered produce to help others simplify their lives and improve their health through whole food nutrition.
